Basket case cars
or abandoned projects can be returned as “turn key cars” ready to drive and
enjoy. Each component can be returned to as new condition and the entire car
reassembled, repainted, reupholstered and then road tested to perform in all
aspects as a new car of its era.
The body of the
car is usually stripped to bare metal to reveal all the previous repairs and
accident damage. Vintage and veteran sports cars have usually suffered through
the years at the hands of DPO’s (dreaded previous owners) and only a thorough
examination can reveal the full extent of work required and allow us to make
realistic estimates of time and resources needed.
Rust is not a
problem here!
Having learned
my craft in Canada I have years of experience repairing
corrosion damage. Each panel is carefully repaired using a variety of metal
working techniques including panel fabrication, hammer welding, shrinking,
leading and MIG or TIG welding.
Each panel is
carefully fitted to the body subframe and checked for fit and alignment. We use
a variety of jigs and volumes of factory literature to make sure that the
frames are straight to allow us to create perfect panel gaps that are superior
to the factory fit.
Our body work
and paint are award winning. Panel straightness is assured by labor intensive
block sanding by hand to achieve a surface ready for paint. Paint is like a
mirror that reflects the surface beneath it and only careful preparation allows
a perfect finish.
All exterior
surfaces are color sanded and polished to perfection. Paint is what people see
first and it is a major part of any restoration. We do all of our body work and
painting “in house” to give us total control of all aspects of your work.
Interiors can be
fabricated and installed in leather or vinyl as required. We source and use a variety
of factory correct materials for use in our interiors. Some very nice interior
kits are available and we install those if appropriate. Other cars we fabricate
and install interiors made from scratch to match the cars original or the
owners preference. Leather instead of vinyl is a common choice of the client
for their particular wants.
Engines and
other running gear are carefully removed and returned to as-new condition,
fully detailed and installed. Our engine builder has 40 years experience with British
engines of all types.
Engines are
built to each customers’ specific performance wishes.
5 speed gearbox
conversions are very popular and add to the safety and enjoyment of modern
freeway driving while extending the life of your rebuilt engine.
Brakes can be
upgraded with better discs and calipers, pads and linings and dual master
cylinders.
We offer every
service required to go from a bare frame to a reliable drivable car that is
like factory new throughout. We can do
partial restorations as required by owners who wish to do some things
themselves.
